La Musique

Post  Arcadesole on Fri Jun 20, 2008 11:38 am

I've heard some people quote some awesome songs and mention some awesome bands. I've also heard some people say they're addicted to that new song "Apologize"... Rolling Eyes

What are you guys into? I'm a fan of some indie rock and punk rock from all over, DC, NY, SoCal, NorCal, Jersey, Boston, Chicago, to name a few. Bands like the Bouncing Souls, Street Dogs, The Lawrence Arms, Black Flag, Pavement, The Arcade Fire, Stray Cats, Against Me!, Voodoo Glow Skulls, and Jawbreaker, are among my favorites.

I have a pretty eclectic taste. I like a lot of old school stuff like Pink Floyd, Sabbath, Zep, etc. as well as more modern prog rock stuff (Tool is my favorite band). I also really enjoy jazz a lot too.

Ska, punk, rock, some classical is all good. I play bass, so I'm a pretty big music geek.

Get "Damaged" by Black Flag, if you like really hardcore punk from the 80s, and get "The Arcade Fire EP" or "Funeral" from Arcade Fire. Now.

Awww yeah Aquabats are awesome, were a lot more awesome before travis
barker went the blink-182 gayway. Their first CD "Return of the
Aquabats" (lol) is definetly my favorite, but their newer stuff with
synths is kinda cool, but not the same. What's your opinion on "Charge!"?

And OpIvy (Where do you tink my alt's name ArcadeIvy came from?) was one of the best bands out there, too bad they only had 1 solid release, although i got a cd for my birthday with a bunch of b-sides and rarities, which a lot of just ended up being shitty recordings, but some new songs were on there.

And if you don't like Sublime, you don't like music. Robbin' the Hood, yo.

Mine used to be completely rooted into metal. I still listen to some, biut not nearly as much as I used to. I'm on more of a softer, acoustic style right now. Right now some of my favorites are:

Bright Eyes
Dave Matthews Band
Dashboard Confessional
Damien Rice
Iron and Wine

My three favorite bands are At The Drive-In, The Mars Volta, and Pearl Jam. I listen to those groups regardless.

I'm going to Lollapalooza in August. The three bands I am most excited to see are Rage Against The Machine, Radiohead, and Nine Inch Nails.

Hopefully that gives you some idea of my musical taste.

I'm way big into Bright Eyes, RATM, ATDI, and TMV, but those are more
of the stuff i was into a lot more, like you with metal, with the
exception of Bright Eyes and bit of ATDI. Glad to see some similar
tastes on the boards.

Just recently got a cd from a local band i'm friends with and have
played a couple shows with, Shinobu, their record "Worstward, ho!".
Diggin it really hard, so awesome indie/punk stuff. Check'em out at
